Every now and then, you see a catch phrase become wildly accepted after being overused by the main stream media. From Tear Down That Wall and Read My Lips to I Did Not Have Sexual Relations With That Woman and From Wall Street To Main Street- nothing can popularize a statement faster than the media.

One of the phrases that is thrown around loosely today is "Right Wing Extremist". Now...Im pretty sure when people use that term, they are talking about people like me, and personally- I don't mind it in the least.

But what makes a person an Extremist? Is it because they choose to follow a belief system regardless of the popular opinion of it? Such dedication to moral principal must be pretty extreme indeed.

Could it be because they see the dangers of a society being driven to the edge of calamity, and they take the initiative to prepair for disaster? Is it because they don't expect to be provided for, but would rather have the opportunity to elevate themselves above the common man through hard work and discipline? Both of those notions must seem wildly extreme.

Perhaps what is the most Extreme of it all is the fact that there is a good chance that some people could suffer severe negative social consequences for the practice of their belief system and the expression of their ideas. From slight criticism to outright discrimination- there are numerous detrimental consequences to this refusal of the herd mentality.

Thats whats "Extremist" about the whole scene. The fact that large numbers of people like me simply don't mind being labeled as as such. If we are all to be considered extremists- then we should take a look at exactly what we are committing these extremist acts against, and consider the full reality of the situation. After an honest inventory of our environment- I'm sure we could all agree that a little Right Wing Extremism is exactly what is needed.
