PostHeaderIcon How America compares to the climate

It's hot and humid here where I live, which is typical for this time of year.  It's sweltering to say the least, though it doesn't bother me the way it seems to bother some people.  It's a lot like the political climate here in America right now, it's real hot and every afternoon there's a pretty good chance that you'll get a very destructive thunderstorm.  How is that like the political climate in this country right now?  Well, it's hot up in Washington and around the nation, and the anger of the people is so unstable, it's apt to produce a storm that rends things apart. Right now, BP is dumping several million barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico every day, and federal response sucks.  The Government seems to be saying one thing and doing another, such as Obama talking about kicking some butt while he brings no pressure to bear on BP.  He's not alone in blame either, as Congress is holding a mock trial with the CEO of BP and doing little else.  I guess it makes them feel important to be seen to be doing something, that amounts to nothing.  People on the Gulf Coast are rightfully angry, and those of us on the East Coast are worrying that the crude may swing around Florida and start working it's way up the eastern seaboard.  If you had a job on a rig, thanks to the President you can't go to work, and the fishermen are out of work, not to mention all the people who relied on these industries by making a living helping to support them.  BP has promised to help these out of work people, but the process is a difficult one.  So now our President has said the federal government will step into the claims processing role, so I'm sure those people are just inspired by the due diligence of our federal workers, who have a track record to make one shudder.  It's been my experience that the majority of federal employees are nothing more than petty time servers who care more about payday and retirement than they do in actually doing their job. In addition to these wonderful things, we're seeing the democratic party fracture.  Here in my home state of South Carolina, James Clyburn has called the nomination of Alvin Greene a republican plot.  Greene came out of nowhere to beat all the big name democrats hoping to have a chance to lose to Jim DeMint.  Of course, Mr. Greene is currently facing charges for showing a girl porn on his computer then asking her if she'd like to go back to her dorm room.  Mr. Greene is a unemployed military vet who did little campaigning.  This should speak quite loudly as to the political situation here in our country.  When complete unknowns are winning nominations to run for office in November, the people are sending a message to the Washington establishment.  In typical Washington fashion, they aren't listening and are trying to dance around the issues.  Our elected representation seem to be another fine example of petty time servers interested more in living on the public dole than in doing any real work.   Yes, things are getting downright disgusting here.  If things are indeed improving, then why do I know so many unemployed people, who despite having excellent qualifications and skills, can't seem to find gainful employment?  The nightly news lies about the situation every night, and the gullible buy into it, hoping and praying that the end is in sight.  They talk about how many jobs were created, while blithely ignoring how many jobs were lost.  Things are getting harder for people, and no one is there to offer help.  Things are going to get worse before they get better, so you best be prepared.
